Hearthstone is easy, Magic is hard.<br /><br />People perceive chess as having more skill than checkers even though the relative balance of skill and luck in the two games is identical. Chess just has a higher skill ceiling.<br /><br />Magic pros (and even just pretty good magic players like Reynad) just cruise up the Hearthstone ladder. Kibler walked into Hearthstone like he owned it.<br /><br />Another factor might be that Magic actually has legendary players who proved to us that you *can* be that good. Has Hearthstone had a Finkel or a Kai? Someone that everyone can stand back and say, "Well, I'm not winning, and I may have been unlucky, but I know I could be better because I'm no Finkel."<br /><br />About the streams, though, Magic has the same problem with watching a popular deck played over and over being uninteresting.
